The brokerage is owned by Texas-native Kori Marra and provides unparalleled, professional service for clients seeking their first, second, or perhaps even their perfect vacation home.
South Padre Island is a resort town on a barrier island off the south coast of Texas, about two and a half hours south of Corpus Christi. With stunning beaches and internationally famous bird watching, South Padre Island is a haven for anyone seeking a stunning, simple life, or for anyone looking for the perfect sunset. The area boasts one of the top kiteboarding experiences in the world for both summer and winter visitors. Other attributes include South Padre Island Golf Club, one of the finest in the Rio Grande Valley, and the famous Texas International Fishing Tournament takes place annually every year.
Although she was born in West Texas, Kori has owned a property on South Padre Island for over 20 years.
Kori began her real estate career in 1998 after moving to south Texas as the wife of a U.S. Border Patrol agent. After working for several nationally franchised brokerages, looking for as much experience as possible, Kori obtained her broker license and alongside her business partner, owned a RE/MAX franchise in Harlingen, Texas for the next 15 years.
The business thrived under Kori’s leadership and became the premier brokerage in Harlingen. For multiple years, no other brokerage in the area did more business than Kori’s. With about 16 agents, Kori’s office was able to close between 80 and 100 transactions per year in a town of around 60,000 people.
During her ownership, Kori’s love for volunteering in her community continued to grow. Her involvement included children’s advocacy, the city board, the local MLS board, the Chamber of commerce, and chairing large fundraisers for The Children’s Miracle Network, to name a few. As her office continued to grow, Kori made the decision to run for the local city council where she won a seat. Being involved in the fight for property owners’ rights is also a passion for Kori.
Kori sold her office in 2016 after deciding to follow her dream of living full-time on South Padre Island and selling real estate there. While pursuing continued education and some business coaching, Kori heard about the NextHome franchise.
“I fell in love with the franchise,” Kori said of her first impression of NextHome.
Today, Kori runs a beautiful brick and mortar office on South Padre Island which is fully staffed with four of the area’s best agents. NextHome on the Coast stands apart through its focus on rigorous standards of dedication and marketing perfection. The office focuses on serving South Padre Island, Port Isabel, Laguna Vista, and the Los Fresnos areas.

When she isn’t selling real estate or helping her agents, Kori enjoys her favorite sport – fishing. She is the proud mother of three children: Danielle (26) who owns a private specialized wine tasting company, Lane (25) who serves in the U.S. Coast Guard and is a graduate of the Navy’s prestigious Field Dive School, and Piper (17), a junior in high school who plays tennis and volunteers with the local non-profit Sea Turtle Inc.
