The brokerage represents the 75th office location opened in Florida for the NextHome franchise and the 500th NextHome office opened nationally. 

NextHome Lifestyle Living will serve residential clients in the world’s largest 55+ community. The Villages is a master planned community with a population of more than 150,000. As one of the fastest growing communities in the U.S., The Villages boasts more than 50 golf courses, 90 swimming pools and more than 2,500 organized clubs. 

NextHome Lifestyle Living is owned by veteran REALTOR® and brokerage owner, Tony Anderson. Tony opened his flagship NextHome office (NextHome Gulf Coast) in Largo in 2016 and soon followed with offices in Indian Rocks Beach, St. Petersburg, and New Port Richey. Tony has been a part of NextHome’s phenomenal milestones since 2017. The Largo and Indian Rocks Beach expansions represented the NextHome’s 100th and 200th office locations. 

“To see the franchise add an additional 100 offices in less than a year, I knew that I had aligned with the right company,” Tony said. “I’m also surrounded with a like-minded, supportive, nationwide broker network. Here I am, more excited than ever about the brand and where our company is headed.”

Today, Tony is thrilled for the opportunity to open his fifth brokerage and NextHome’s 500th office in an area he is familiar with. 

“Things just came together really organically with this office,” Tony said. “We found a great location, we had the right people in place, and everything just started lining up. I’ve always wanted to open a brokerage here, and I am thrilled that all the stars aligned for NextHome Lifestyle Living.”

Tony is an experienced professional in the real estate industry and owns four other NextHome franchises across Florida. His area expertise and leadership skills mean that clients in The Villages will be in good hands. Tony and his team offer expertise in seasonal properties, second homes, investment properties, downsizing or right-sizing. 

Tony first entered the industry after delving into real estate as an investor. He bought his first investment property in 2003, rehabbed and resold the home in just a few months. Realizing he made a substantial profit in a relatively short period of time, Tony left his job in the cellular phone business and purchased six properties over the next three years – turning all of them for a profit.

In late 2005, Tony made the decision to immerse himself completely in real estate by getting his real estate license and representing himself on his purchases.

The following year, the real estate market saw significant shifts in values. Tony held off purchasing properties and turned his focus to working with buyers and sellers. He eventually connected with a foreclosure listing agent, where he learned the methods of selling foreclosure properties.

From 2008 until late 2012, Tony worked for a REO real estate broker and honed his skills in negotiation and client services. In 2012, Tony accepted the position of manager for the Largo-based brokerage. Under his leadership, he was able to grow the company from a single agent brokerage to over 30 agents in less than three years. His success led to his promotion in 2016, where he was appointed the managing broker for the company’s expansion location in Clearwater, Florida.

In mid-2016, Tony began to realize that opening his own brokerage made the most sense and NextHome was a franchise he had been watching for some time.

“I kept seeing the NextHome real estate signs showing up in various neighborhoods in Florida,” Tony recalled. “As I found out more about the company, I realized it would be the perfect franchise to align my new brokerage with.”

After opening his first NextHome office in 2016, Tony went on to expand with four additional offices. 

As he opens NextHome Lifestyle Living, Tony is also expanding his volunteerism in the community. The brokerage has partnered with Pet Pal Animal Shelter in St. Petersburg – a no-kill animal shelter that is near and dear to Tony’s heart. He adopted his own dog from there about 13 years ago. NextHome Lifestyle Living will be hosting two fundraising events for the shelter. 

When not selling real estate, Anderson loves to spend time with his wife, Peppy. After enjoying 16 years together, the couple was married in April of 2016.

Pleasanton, CA — August 5, 2020 — NextHome is pleased to announce the newest addition to the franchise, NextHome King Realty, based in Miami Lakes, Florida. The brokerage represents the 74th office location opened in Florida for the NextHome franchise and the 499th NextHome office opened nationally.

The brokerage will serve clients across central and south Florida, covering three MLS areas. 

Under the ownership of Howard Li, NextHome King Realty has the unique ability to serve clients in both English and Mandarin Chinese. Howard operates RE School LLC, the only real estate school in Florida that can teach in Mandarin Chinese. 

Howard’s remarkable career has spanned continents and industries. He began his professional life as editor of CCB Dragon Magazine, the official trade publication of China Construction Bank. Howard also spent several years as a professional banker in Singapore. 

After moving to the United States in 2012, Howard obtained his MBA in finance from Tulane University in New Orleans. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Florida International University’s School of Business with an emphasis in management. 

Howard obtained his real estate sales license in 2014 and delved into the industry while studying for his MBA. After four years of selling success, Howard became the broker of record at Century 21 King Realty in Miami. Soon after becoming a broker, Howard also opened RE School. Throughout his years in the industry, he has also obtained numerous MLS designations and certificates.

“Education is incredibly important,” Howard said. “And when you can combine education, superior marketing, and technology together, you can create an ecosystem of success.”

The desire to create that ecosystem drove Howard to check out NextHome. 

“I did an incredible amount of research and looked into just about every franchised company,” Howard said. “NextHome was it for me.”

The franchise’s pioneering approach to the real estate industry made it stand out from other franchise choices.

“Real estate companies need to innovate continuously,” Howard said. “If you don’t improve yourself, you will quickly find that you are shut out from the market. NextHome’s entire model was contemporary, it was up to to date.”

Howard’s list of accomplishments extends beyond his educational and professional success. Howard is a member of The Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) Institute. The organization is the world’s largest association of investment professionals. Howard is also a member of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analysts Association (CAIA). According to its website, The CAIA Association operates in 95 countries worldwide and is “a global professional credentialing body dedicated to creating greater alignment, transparency, and knowledge for all investors, with a specific emphasis on alternative investments.” The alternative investments that a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst is trained to assess include hedge funds, venture capital, private equity, funds of funds, derivatives, and real estate investments.

Howard is also a Professional Certified Marketer and is a member of the American Marketing Association. 

Howard and his wife Yuan are the proud parents of two children: Jane (7) and Leon (2). When the family has a chance to enjoy time together, they love all things Disney.

Pleasanton, CA — July 31, 2020 — NextHome is pleased to announce the newest addition to the franchise, NextHome Bold, based in Cedar Hill, Texas. The brokerage represents the 37th office location opened in Texas for the NextHome franchise and the 497th NextHome office opened nationally.

The brokerage will serve clients across the Dallas/Fort Worth area including Mansfield, Grand Prairie, DeSoto, Arlington, Cedar Hill, Midlothian, Red Oak, and Waxahachie.

NextHome Bold is owned by Texas-native Jerome Hawkins – a savvy entrepreneur with extensive experience in all aspects of residential and commercial real estate investment. 

After growing up in east Texas, Jerome eventually moved to Hawaii where he started dabbling in real estate investment. Jerome built a wealth of knowledge around buy-and-holds, flips, and vacation rental properties. As the years rolled on, Jerome eventually brought on partners. 

“We became very good at taking a property and realizing its highest use,” Jerome said.

In 2016, he brought that level of real estate savvy back to Texas where he continued to thrive in the investment industry. Jerome soon averaged about 50 transactions per year. With that impressive volume, and years of experience, Jerome knew that obtaining his real estate license would open doors for him. As a born entrepreneur, he also recognized an opportunity to own his own real estate franchise.

Pleasanton, CA — July 30, 2020 — NextHome is pleased to announce the expansion of NextHome Realty Select in Staunton, Virginia. NextHome Realty Select – Staunton will serve clients across the Shenandoah Valley, with a focus on the growing Staunton-Waynesboro Metropolitan Statistical Area. 

The brokerage represents the 14th office location opened in Virginia for the NextHome franchise and the 496th NextHome office opened nationally.

Owned by real estate veteran Curtis Siever, the Staunton office builds on the success of his series of Virginia and West Virginia-based NextHome offices; Winchester, Woodstock, Front Royal, and Martinsburg.

The expansion into Staunton was truly an organic situation. 

“I was approached by an agent who worked in that market who was really excited about the NextHome brand, its culture, and what it could do for her clients,” Curtis said. “In turn, she had a friend in the profession who also wanted to come aboard with her.”

Today, NextHome Realty Select – Staunton is poised for success with professional agents Lisa Belcher and Lori Bonnell leading the way.

Lisa and Lori are working from the brokerage’s charming new downtown offices, and they are already experiencing the NextHome difference.  

“We are truly growing in that area,” Curtis said.

Curtis has been a NextHome owner/broker since the Fall of 2016 when he opened NextHome Realty Select’s Winchester offices. Today, he is the owner of five brokerages across Virginia and West Virginia.

Since embarking on a career with NextHome, Curtis has enjoyed phenomenal success. In 2019, his three locations were able to close more than 240 transactions and reach $50.5 million in sales volume. Although impressive, these numbers represent an even larger accomplishment for Curtis and all the agents at NextHome Realty Select, they were able to increase their business by 62% year over year. 

Curtis has been working in real estate for more than 26 years. Originally from Front Royal, he was licensed in 1994 and started his career with Weichert Realtors. Curtis’s brother, Terry, was the owner of a successful real estate construction business. Blue Ridge Construction created beautiful homes but needed someone to market and sell these properties. Curtis was the perfect person to provide that service.

The early years of his career were spent selling homes in the Front Royal and Linden areas to many clients moving from the Northern Virginia and D.C. area. Curtis also had a desire to build new construction homes and managed a construction company from 2003 to 2008, building 35 new homes.

Over the next two decades, Curtis leveraged his new construction sales background to create an incredibly successful real estate sales career. Averaging over 40 transactions yearly, he consistently ranks as one of the top producers in his area.

In early 2016, Curtis felt it was the right time to open his own brokerage. He attained his broker’s license and began looking for a franchise that would best help him deliver services and technology to his brokerage.

“I found NextHome through a simple Google search,” Curtis recalled. “I was hooked on the website and found myself researching the company pretty thoroughly before reaching out to (NextHome’s Vice President of Sales) Charis Moreno.”

Top Ten Ways For A Real Estate Agent To Avoid Being Sued

1. Failing to Disclose

A majority of lawsuits arise out of agents knowing about a material fact that affects the value or desirability of the property and failing to disclose that fact to the buyer. For example, agents knowing about, but failing to disclose, improvements without permits, construction defects, roof leaks, and water leaks, cracking, noise or nuisances.

2. Failing to Recommend Inspections

Buyers’ agents frequently fail to recommend appropriate inspections, such as pool, chimney, general home inspection, roof, septic, structural or soils.

3. Failing to Identify Potential Issues

Agents occasionally fail to identify red flags, which could indicate more serious issues, such as cracking in walls, which may be signs of a structural or drainage defect.

4. Failing to Properly Advise on the Terms of a Contract

When an agent prepares or reviews a contract, the agent does not identify issues, explain the terms or discuss problematic clauses.

5. Exaggerating Features of the Property

Agents sometimes exaggerate or over- emphasize features of a house with statements that border on untruths. Buyers will move into the house and learn that the house was not what they believed it to be.

6. Failing to Explain the Significance of a Disclosure Issue to Buyers

A buyer learns of a defect during the inspection period, but fails to understand its significance. They generally blame the agent for not explaining it or recommending further investigation.

7. Making Promises You Cannot or Do Not Keep

Agents sometimes promise their clients or another party that they will do something and then fail to do it. Keep your promises, do what you say you are going to do, then keep the client informed.

8. Failing to Explain the Significance of a Disclosure Issue to Sellers

A seller fails to disclose a material fact and when a claim is made by the buyer, the seller claims that the agents did not properly advise the seller to disclose the issue.

9. Failing to Comply with the Time Frames in the Contract

Generally, real property purchase agreements contain time frames in which the parties are to perform certain obligations. If the time frames are not followed, a party may cancel or terminate the agreement. If this occurs, the agents may be held liable.

10. Representing Clients in Unfamiliar Geographical Areas

Agents frequently represent clients in unfamiliar geographical areas. Many times, the area has particular characteristics or requirements of which the agent is unaware.  When the issue is not identified and the buyer learns of it later, the buyer generally blames the agent.

They are headquartered about 30 minutes northeast of downtown Sacramento in the family community of Rocklin. The city offers a family-friendly environment and accommodates many diverse lifestyles. Nestled outside of the Sierra Foothills, Rocklin is about 90 minutes from the Lake Tahoe region while also offering the best of Sacramento’s contemporary culture. With its proximity to the Nevada border, NextHome Vision has intentions to represent clients in both states in the very near future. 

NextHome Vision is owned by the husband and wife team of Kristi and Jaret Ghent. Kristi and Jaret have enjoyed more than 20 years of phenomenal success across a wide range of sub-specialties. Jaret and Kristi are truly partners in life and business. They met in 1990, and in 1993 were married in the Bay Area. Together, they applied their work ethic and real estate knowledge to help their RE/MAX office become No. 1 in sales production in California & Hawaii. Their out-of-the-box approach to business and their consumer-centric model propelled their team to the top 10% in real estate sales worldwide for several years.  

In 2007, as the economy changed, so did their thoughts about the business and the industry. 

“We started to develop what we believed to be the future of real estate brokerage models”, Jaret said. “We built one of the country’s first truly paperless offices, utilizing technology to manage and grow the business. In 2009, the Ghents launched Vision Real Estate. The brokerage model was foreign to state regulators at the time, operating paperless and without a trust account. Luke Day 2020 filled with community support across the nation

Luke Day 2020 filled with community support across the nation

Pleasanton, CA — July 22, 2020 — An integral part of our brand identity and culture, NextHome wouldn’t be the same without our beloved mascot Luke. In honor of his birthday, we have declared June 15th our company’s annual day of community service and outreach – Luke Day. We use this day as an opportunity to step away from our business and come together to serve our local areas and the people and pets that thrive there. This year, Luke Day took place on July 15th to allow more time for planning and execution in our ever-changing world. 

Last year, many of our NextHomies organized pet adoption events or raised donations for our national charity partner, Canine Companions for Independence. This year, we encouraged Luke Day efforts to focus on the youth in our communities. With daycares and schools closed, friends and teachers absent from their daily lives, and comforting routines disrupted, children of all ages have gone through very trying times the past few months.

One of the best attributes of Luke Day is that each NextHome office across the country (close to 500 of them) has the opportunity to make a difference in their local community by donating their time, supplies, or funds to a charity of their choice. 

Our orange hearts are full of amazing stories from Luke Day events from coast to coast.

NextHome Cedar Street Realty in Roseville, California held a drive-through donation event to support Snowline Hospice, Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance, and Habitat for Humanity in their community. 

The idea stemmed from hearing from clients who had spent much of the lock-down cleaning and organizing, while many donation spots were closed. The team opened their office as a donation center where community members could simply drive up, open their trunks, and the team removed everything safely and without contact. Through their efforts, NextHome Cedar Street Realty collected two semi-trucks full of donated goods thanks to 100-plus drive-though donations. 

“We love that our company intentionally sets aside one day each year to give back to our communities,” said Amy Rivers and Sherry Montalvo, the owners of NextHome Cedar Street Realty. “We feel tremendous camaraderie with our NextHomies across the country as we all prepare and execute different events for wonderful causes.”

NextHome Preferred in Felton, Delaware organized a fundraiser to collect needed supplies for Greater Dover Boys & Girls Club to support local children who have been affected by COVID-19. The organization, whose mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens, stayed open during quarantine to provide a safe environment for the children of essential workers. 

The team at NextHome Preferred collected enough supplies through donations to supply Greater Dover Boys & Girls Club with craft supplies, sports equipment, hygiene items, and monetary donations to ensure the kids would have the enjoyable and safe summer that they deserve. 

“Luke Day is an exciting time for our office to be able to go out and give back to a community that gives so much to us!” said Bobbi Slagle, owner of NextHome Preferred. 

Our corporate office based in Pleasanton, California raised donations for the Alameda County Community Food Bank. It’s been an emotionally and financially difficult year with many families facing hardship, which is greatly felt by children. Many of our neighbors rely on school meals for their children, and we wanted to offer some support – because food is a basic human right. 

Because of the organization’s efficiency and vast network of food resources, the Food Bank is able to distribute $7 worth of groceries for every dollar we raised. Our team raised $2,846 which allowed $19,922 of fresh fruits and vegetables and staple groceries to be donated to children, adults, and seniors in Alameda County.

Additionally, 250 plush Lukes have found their new homes with kids participating in the free lunch program. We’re so glad that Luke brought a smile to their faces as he does to ours.  

Company-wide, NextHome held an additional fundraiser for our national charity partner, Canine Companions for Independence – a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships. 

Thanks to The Orange Appeal Store, our NextHomies not only were able to purchase Luke Day hats and shirts for their local events, but a portion of the proceeds went to a cause we all love and support. Together, we were able to raise $2,428 toward Canine Companions. 

We can all make a difference, even with the unprecedented times our communities are experiencing. We couldn’t be more proud of our NextHomies across the country as we hear about their Luke Day events and the organizations they’ve helped.

No Bargains in Sight as Home Prices Show Little Impact from Coronavirus

  • The median sale price was up 4.6% year-over-year in May, to $263,408.
  • Most major metros saw a slight deceleration in sale price growth from April to May
  • A resurgence of more-expensive listings, low price cuts, and record-low days on market are all expected to sustain upward pressure on sales prices.

The median price of U.S. homes sold in May was $263,408, up 4.6% year-over-year. But May was also the second straight month in which annual growth was slower than the month prior — definitively snapping an almost year-long period of continuous acceleration that began in April 2019 and peaked in March at 5.5%.

Annual growth in median sale price was slower in May than in April in 31 of the nation’s 50 largest metros, though the deceleration was generally small. The biggest slowdown was in Providence, down 2 percentage points in May from April (from almost 9.2% to just slightly more than 7.1%). San Jose was at the opposite end — annual growth in the heart of Silicon Valley was 2.1 percentage points faster in May than in April (to 5.3% from 3.2%).

The data make clear that despite the nationwide shockwaves generated by the coronavirus pandemic, home prices haven’t been hit to the same degree as other sectors of the economy — at least for now. And because closed sales obviously lag active listings, we can expect sales prices to reflect the relative stability and growth of median list prices that we’ve seen over the past few months. Sale prices increased year-over-year in May in all 50 of the nation’s largest metros.

Still, the pandemic has had a small but noticeable impact on prices. In mid-April, inventory of available homes to buy hit its low-point as stay-at-home orders temporarily paused home transaction activity. Initially, listings of the most-expensive homes fell the most, skewing the distribution of homes actually available for sale toward those in lower price ranges. It’s likely we’re seeing the impact of the closed sales of those lower-priced homes reflected in May’s deceleration in the median sale price.

Recent data point to continued stability in sales prices. By early June, as inventory recovered from April lows, listings at more expensive price points surged back to levels close to last year’s, while lower-priced listings remained depressed. Sellers are also consistently holding firm on their asking prices — just 4.1% of active listings in the last week of June had undergone a price cut, compared to 5.6% of listings a year earlier. And with homes typically selling just 20 days after hitting the market — the lowest level ever recorded by Zillow — sellers have little incentive to slash prices. All of these upward pressures on list prices will likely carry through to sales prices in the coming months.

As spring turns to summer, buyers currently in the market and expecting to score a bargain from desperate sellers may be in for a rude surprise. Zillow listing metrics clearly point to the fact that, despite challenges posed by the pandemic, it remains a very competitive homebuying season — ever-low inventory is no match for buyers’ pent-up demand. Steady sales prices are a final confirmation of this trend.

This newest addition to the franchise (NextHome Cutting Edge Realty II) will serve clients across Calcasieu Parish, including Moss Bluff, DeQuincy, Lake Charles, Sulphur, Westlake, Iowa, and Vinton.

The brokerage represents the ninth office location opened in Louisiana for the NextHome franchise and the 494th NextHome office opened nationally.

NextHome Cutting Edge Realty II is owned by Christie House Theaux and Joy Cobert – two friends with a unique skill for fostering happiness and an upbeat culture among their family of thriving agents. Ivan Jennings is rounding out the leadership team as NextHome Cutting Edge Realty’s associate broker. Ivan joined the team in July and will be operating out of both the Lake Charles and Lafayette offices. 

With this expansion, NextHome Cutting Edge Realty is offering unparalleled marketing, hands-on training and support, and cutting-edge real estate technology to agents in the Lake Charles area. 

“The Lake Charles real estate market has some great local brokerages and with the growing millennial population, we feel that NextHome offers a different approach to marketing and an abundance of tools to support the agent looking for technology,” Joy said. “We also love to teach and train agents who want to grow their business and who have a desire to impact their community.”

The pair opened their flagship NextHome brokerage in Lafayette in the spring of 2018. 

Both Christie and Joy have been licensed since 2011. Christie was the leader of the House Team and has consistently sold 60-plus homes annually. As an integral part of one of the top real estate teams in the Lafayette area, her dedication to client service earned her the reputation of a respected leader in the community.

Joy has an impressive resume as well. While selling more than 25 homes yearly, her skills as an instructor have led her to various positions of leadership. As the Productivity Coach at her local Keller Williams, she helped coach more than 40 REALTORS® on all things real estate including prospecting for new business, providing world-class client service, and best practices to retain clientele.

“We are teachers at heart and we love helping agents grow,” Joy said.

While both women each had successful businesses, they wanted more for themselves and for the local real estate industry.

“I wanted to bring something different to the area,” Christie recalled. “I wanted to raise the bar in real estate. After sharing that with Joy, she felt exactly the same.”

As they looked at options for a real estate franchise, they felt one company in particular aligned with the goal of changing the real estate game – NextHome.

“After talking with (NextHome’s VP of Sales) Charis Moreno, we both felt the choice was easy,” added Christie. “NextHome was the natural choice of company to partner with.”

For the past two years, the business partners have led NextHome Cutting Edge Realty providing a high level of marketing in their area. By offering a career-oriented environment for local REALTORS®, the brokerage provides top-level coaching and guidance, while holding high professional standards for all listings and buyer representation.

As they launch their Lake Charles office, Christie and Joy look forward to offering more hands-on support for agents. 

“It has always been my goal to be able to truly help the agents and not just put them in a room and talk to them,” Christie said of her role as a broker and mentor. “I want to be able to go with them when they need me to, supporting them on appointments and through real-world help. That was the different type of brokerage we were trying to create – a place where it’s all about humans over houses.”

As they welcome new agents into their Lake Charles expansion, Christie and Joy hope to nurture professionals who love the human aspect of real estate. 

“We want to welcome agents who know that they are in the right industry, but maybe haven’t found the right supportive fit,” Joy said. “We want to offer that support to get them to their next level. We welcome the agent who knows that they are making an impact, and wants to continue making an impact, but needs the support on the side of the brokerage to continue to grow their business.” 

Christie and Joy also volunteer time and efforts for their Lafayette community.

Christie volunteers at Lafayette High School, where she sits on the board for the school’s Booster Club and football team. Lafayette High School is the largest high school in the state of Louisiana.

Joy volunteers her time as both a speaker and a personal growth coach for local organizations in her community.

Christie and her husband, Rocky, have four boys between the ages of three and 25. Together, the family loves boating and offshore fishing.

Joy and her husband, Roger, have three children – sons Christian (age 18) and Colin (14) and daughter Carleigh (11). Together, the family loves to travel.

The brokerage represents the 75th office location opened in California for the NextHome franchise and the 493rd NextHome office opened nationally.

Located just three hours south of the Reno/Tahoe area and five hours north of Los Angeles, Mammoth Lakes is a mountain paradise with meandering streams and majestic views. The vacationer’s wonderland is located just 45 minutes from the east entrance of Yosemite National Park and offers scenic recreation in the summer and world-class skiing in the winter. The area provides attractive real estate investment opportunities and thrives on short-term vacation rentals and second homes. 

NextHome Mammoth Lakes is poised to provide superior service to clients up and down the Highway 395 corridor, from the town of Topaz in the north all the way south to Lone Pine. 

NextHome Mammoth Lakes will serve this unique area’s residential and investment real estate needs under the leadership of owner/broker Eric Leach. Eric has been a full-time real estate professional in the Mammoth Lakes area for more than a decade and has held his real estate sales license since 2002. 

Throughout his formative years in the industry, Eric worked with both a large national franchise and a small independent brokerage. 

In 2008, Eric obtained his broker’s license and, with two other partners, opened Resort Property Realty, Inc. In the midst of a national housing downturn, the business managed to thrive. 

“We really did open in one of the worst times,” Eric said. “But I was a young guy and I was hungry which pushed me to continue to hustle and hustle. We have been successful since the first month we opened and that is something I’ve been very proud of.”

Through hard work and dedication to both agents and clients, Resort Property Realty, Inc. became the second-largest brokerage in Mammoth. In 2015, Eric’s partners left to pursue other opportunities making Eric the company’s sole owner. 

Last year, the small-town brokerage achieved a high watermark of over $71 million in real estate sales with 137 annual transactions. 

However, what Eric is most proud of is his connection with his 16 agents and his dedication to their support. 

“They can call on me anytime, anywhere,” Eric said. “They never feel abandoned and I always go to bat for them.”

In 2019, that dedication to agent success and a desire to grow his business prompted Eric to look into options for more robust marketing and technology. 

“It was something I knew I needed to do,” Eric recalled. “But revamping the brokerage’s marketing always seemed to take a back seat to other more pressing concerns.”

As time went on, Eric kept seeing the NextHome brand pop up. One day, he read an article about the company in REALTOR® Magazine. Between the franchise’s industry-leading marketing and what he read in the magazine article, Eric began to think that 2020 was the right time to finally transition his independent brokerage to a NextHome franchise. 

“Since partnering with NextHome, I see how I will take the marketing and technology to a new level,” Eric said. “It will help us stay sharp and keep agents at the top of their game. With NextHome, we have the tools to be great leaders in our real estate market.”

Eric and the 16 agents already working with the brokerage are excited to bring relationship-based real estate service to all types of clients.

“As things have become so automated, interpersonal relationships are just that much more important,” Eric said. “If someone is looking for a trusted advisor to help them out with a financial transaction that may be one of the largest in their lives, I want to make sure they are working with someone who is as responsive as possible, who is on top of their market and who knows all the ins and outs. With that approach, we hope to not only provide a successful transaction but also build a new friendship.”

In addition to his real estate brokerage, Eric operates Mammoth Lakes Jiu-Jitsu – a community program that brings the joy and discipline of martial arts to both youth and adults. Eric has been an active martial artist for more than 25 years and has been running the Mammoth Lakes Jiu-Jitsu program as the lead instructor for over 12 years. 

An avid cyclist and outdoorsman, Eric has traveled all over the world. 

“I love getting to see and experience other cultures,” Eric said.

He has completed five bike tours throughout Europe and especially enjoys his time traveling through Asia.
