Pleasanton, CA— December 8, 2015 — NextHome is proud to announce our newest addition to the franchise, NextHome City of Oaks. This is the franchise’s first brokerage in the state of North Carolina.
Owned and operated by Paul Duncan, the Raleigh-based brokerage will provide residential real estate sales to the cities of Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Cary, Holly Springs, Wake Forest, Morrisville and surrounding areas.
As a 2007 graduate of North Carolina State University, Duncan started his real estate career right after graduation. Working for Ashland Construction Company in 2008, Duncan served as the on-site project manager for the company. He was in charge of supervising several projects simultaneously such as grocery store builds, commercial property builds, and even the construction of two different Wal-Mart stores in the cities of Ahoskie and Goldsboro.
Wanting to invest wisely, Duncan took portions of his income and in 2011, he started investing in rehabilitating homes. This became a passion and he completed several flipped properties in his spare time.
In 2013, Duncan and his wife Caitie welcomed their first child, Charlie. At the time of Charlie’s birth, Caitie was a Certified Public Accountant. Seeing how much care was needed in raising a child, Duncan wanted to allow his wife the opportunity to stay home with their son if she chose to.
Realizing his rehab efforts would often provide him more income than his full time construction job, Duncan made the leap and started full time in real estate.
In July of 2013, Duncan joined the Stonehenge branch of Fonville Morisey Realty. Joining the company upon the suggestion of his investment property REALTOR®, Cara Pierce, Duncan found the company to provide great training and a reputable brokerage that allowed him to establish himself quickly in his market.
Partnering with Pierce, the duo achieved incredible success. In Duncan’s first year, he transacted over $5 million in personal sales volume and the team sold nearly $20 million in volume.
In 2014, the two of them sold in excess of $20 million in sales and were named “Buyer’s Agent Team of the Year – Small Category” at Fonville Morisey Realty– a tremendous award given to only one team at the 750-agent firm.
Understanding his entrepreneurial spirit, Duncan had the urge to build something for himself and began laying the foundation of opening his own brokerage.
While checking out various real estate franchising opportunities, Duncan saw the featured article about NextHome in RIS Media Magazine. After going to NextHome.com, his interest was peaked and he reached out. When NextHome Chief Executive Officer, James Dwiggins, reached out to him, Duncan was caught off guard.
“The branding, the feel of the company, and the technology were all impressive,” recalls Duncan. “But to have the CEO of the franchise call me, I thought that was something that really spoke to the type of company NextHome is. In spending 20 minutes with James, I knew NextHome was the company I wanted to be in business with.”
“Paul Duncan is an incredible addition to the NextHome network of brokers,” said NextHome Vice President of Business Development, Imran Poladi. “With NextHome City of Oaks being the first North Carolina brokerage for our franchise, I see him setting the tone for our company in our newest state. Even though the brokerage has just started, Paul has put a lot of hours in creating a brokerage that’s focused on today’s tech savvy consumer. We are thrilled to have Paul as part of the NextHome family.”
When Duncan isn’t spending time selling real estate, he focuses on family. In 2014, the Duncans added a new member to the family – 13-month old, Emma. In their down time, the Duncans ski, take to the beach, and love to travel.
Please join us in welcoming Paul and NextHome City of Oaks to the NextHome family!
