Pleasanton, CA — June 6, 2025 — NextHome is proud to announce the expansion of NextHome Coconut Island Realty, with a second office location in Honolulu, Hawaii.
This new location builds on the success of NextHome Coconut Island Realty’s original office, which opened in Hilo in 2022.
NextHome Coconut Island Realty’s Honolulu office joins the growing NextHome franchise that currently has more than 600 active office locations across the country.
NextHome Coconut Island Realty (Honolulu) serves clients in several areas, including Honolulu, Kailua, North Shore, and more. With a vast understanding of Hawaii’s various real estate opportunities, the brokerage offers clients expertise in relocation, investment, land, and all other types of residential real estate.
At NextHome Coconut Island Realty, a knowledgeable and connected leadership team guides every client experience. Erica K. Amundson will be leading the Honolulu office’s day to day operations as Broker in Charge. Carolyn L. Johnson owns both offices and serves as Principal Broker.

Erica delved into real estate in 2017 after obtaining multiple degrees from The University of Hawaii, Hilo,
“My grandfather and mom were both Brokers, and when I was talking about the next steps for my career they both suggested real estate,” Erica recalled. “I wanted to stay local in Hawaii, and real estate gave me that opportunity.”
A driven professional, Erica worked tirelessly to understand every aspect of Hawaii real estate. She worked in construction doing renovations on home flips. She also built her own tiny home, and helped others understand the process of homebuilding.
“All of those construction experiences opened my eyes to how much I loved this line of work, but I wanted to also put my skills in writing contracts to good use,” Erica said.
After joining a local brokerage, Erica sharpened her skills in contracts, negotiations, and guiding clients to their perfect home.
“Carolyn has been an incredible mentor—calm, thoughtful, and methodical, which perfectly balances my go-for-it energy,” Erica said. “She’s the kind of leader who lifts others up and never misses a chance to promote those around her. Deeply connected to Hawaii’s land and sea, she enjoys surfing, yoga, diving, and hiking through forest trails. Erica is committed to holistic well-being. Her blend of scientific knowledge and healing energy brings a grounded, mindful presence to every transaction.
Carolyn is deeply passionate about disability care, a commitment inspired by her autistic, non-verbal grandson. Family is the foundation of her life. She shares her journey with her supportive husband Jason, a well-known retired chef, and together they enjoy a blended family with six wonderful grandchildren (three boys and three girls) who bring energy and joy to their lives.
Raised on the Windward side of Oʻahu, Hawaii, Carolyn is a proud foodie whose love for culture and cuisine is rooted in her upbringing. Jason remains an integral part of both her personal and professional life, often managing behind-the-scenes operations that keep everything running smoothly.
Professionally, Carolyn has been a licensed real estate agent in Hawaii since 2007. With 18 years of experience and a deep understanding of the islands, she takes great pride in guiding clients through the journey of homeownership in paradise.
