Deborah Marek Bergfeld

Conveniently located in the Houston Metro area, NextHome Leverage serves clients throughout The Woodlands, Magnolia, Spring, Conroe, Willis, Montgomery, New Waverly, and the remainder of Montgomery and Walker counties.

NextHome Leverage is owned by native Houstonian Deborah Marek Bergfeld. Deborah serves each client with her signature caring style, while weaving in extensive area knowledge built over a lifetime.

Deborah has been a licensed real estate professional since 2002, and a broker since 2004. Prior to real estate Deborah spent many years as an accountant, working for both CPA firms and private companies.

Deborah’s love for real estate blossomed while working alongside her late husband, John, in new home construction and remodeling.

“Through his career, I learned a lot about construction, remodeling, and new home construction,” Deborah said. “Becoming a real estate broker was the perfect fit for me.”

Deborah’s real estate career quickly took off when family and friends learned about her becoming a broker. “One thing led to another and the referrals just kept coming,” Deborah recalled.

In 2017, Deborah was in the top 4% of REALTORS® in the Houston Market. The Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR) is more than 50,000 people strong, putting Deborah’s accomplishments in remarkable context.

Throughout her career, Deborah worked with both franchised and regional firms. In 2014, she launched her own independent brokerage that mainly focused on assisting buyers purchasing new construction. Her background and experience proved to be invaluable to her clients.

However, as she watched the real estate market change, Deborah knew she needed to find creative ways to compete in today’s real estate environment.

That’s when she discovered NextHome.

“With the NAR lawsuits, I wondered how to move forward,” Deborah said. “But when I revisited NextHome, I realized that people will always need to buy and sell houses. We might need to adopt different strategies, but real estate has a bright future if you are prepared for it.”

NextHome offered thoughtful and forward-thinking solutions for what comes next in real estate.

Today, NextHome Leverage combines Deborah’s unparalleled knowledge with NextHome’s forward-thinking marketing, technology, and support.

“NextHome is relationships-based real estate from the very beginning,” Deborah said. “When we had some big wind storms here in Texas, they reached out to me just to ask how I was doing. They maintain that emphasis on personal connection through all of their marketing and their entire system. I can say from experience with larger brokerages that you generally don’t hear from the broker. But NextHome is serious about fostering connections and developing personal relationships between brokers and agents, and agents and clients. It’s a game-changing difference.”

As NextHome Leverage continues to grow, Deborah is excited to partner with new agents who are looking for the support they need to grow toward a thriving people-focused real estate career.

“I want to empower my agents to focus on talking to people, going out on listing appointments, and showings for buyers without being distracted by worries over paperwork and marketing,” Deborah said. “NextHome’s systems are designed to create more client face time and less computer screen time.”

Throughout a lifetime in the Houston area, Deborah has seen neighborhoods grow and change and she is excited to share her extensive knowledge with her clients.

“I know the geography, the water tables, and the little things that might make or break a transaction,” Deborah said. “I am thrilled to offer my clients an extensive network of vetted professionals who can help with every aspect of their real estate journey.”

In her spare time, Deborah can be found caring for the various animals on her family ranch. Deborah remarried in 2023 to Bill Bergfeld. A vet for 17 years, Bill shows Arabian horses, and together the couple are passionate about animal welfare.

In addition to her talents in real estate, Deborah is an accomplished pianist.

Please join us in congratulating Deborah on the opening of NextHome Leverage in The Woodlands, Texas!
