Pleasanton, CA — January 24, 2018 — NextHome is proud to announce our newest addition to the franchise, NextHome SoMo Life. The brokerage represents the 3rd location opened in Missouri for the NextHome franchise.
Based in Joplin, the company will be owned and operated by husband/wife and business partners, Mike and Tanya Scott. Mike will also serve as broker of record for the company.
NextHome SoMo Life will provide real estate services such as single family residential sales, first-time home buyers, rehab and resale property listings, investment sales, luxury homes, land sales, and farms sales to the areas of Joplin, Webb City, Carl Junction, Carthage, Oronogo, Neosho, and the remainder of Jasper County.
Both Mike and Tanya got their real estate licenses in the late 2000’s. Mike came from a background in construction and Tanya from a career in marketing. They started their real estate business at a local independent brokerage and did fairly well.
In 2011, the city of Joplin was devastated by a tornado which brought national attention to the area. Over 8,000 homes were destroyed and thousands of families were left without a place to live.
The Scotts were some of the tireless workers who scrambled to help those in need during the crisis.
“Many real estate brokers and agents stepped up and did whatever they could to help,” recalled Tanya. “We did our best to help as much possible.”
That included housing a family that had previously listed with the Scotts. After losing everything, Mike and Tanya welcomed the family in their own home for six months.
As the town slowly recovered, the Scotts were able to assist more families. They built their business to see more than 70 transactions annually. With the growth of their business, they started investigating opening their own company.
“We were looking at various real estate franchises,” said Mike. “But after we saw what NextHome had to offer, we were blown away by the level of support and technology the company provides its franchisees.”
“After we visited the NextHome Corporate office in mid-2017, it only confirmed our decision was the right one,” added Tanya.
NextHome SoMo Life will operate on the principle of “people before profits” and will focus on growth for their agents, making sure they have all the tools necessary to give clients a first-class experience.
When not selling real estate, the couple of 27 years love to travel. They have three children and three grandchildren and spend as much time with their family as possible.
