NextHome City Realty opens second location in Michigan

NextHome City Realty opens second location in Michigan

Paul Mychalowych

Pleasanton, CA — August 3, 2018 — NextHome is proud to announce our newest addition to the franchise, NextHome City Realty – Detroit Branch. This is the second location for owner, Paul Mychalowych. The brokerage represents the tenth office location opened in the state of Michigan for the NextHome franchise.

As a 14-year real estate veteran, Mychalowych is one of the top-producing REALTORS® in the area. He will also serve as the broker-of-record for the company.

NextHome City Realty – Detroit Branch will provide real estate services such as single-family residential sales, first-time home buyers, investment, luxury, short sales, probate sales, and land deals for all areas of Wayne County including the Grosse Pointe Markets as well as every city up the Woodward Corridor to NextHome City Realty’s Birmingham Location.

With a population of just over 4.3 million residents, the city of Detroit is the largest in the state of Michigan. In 2018, Detroit’s economy has seen a huge boost as many of the neighborhoods affected by the 2008 recession are now beginning to stabilize. With a 30% increase in average sales price in the past 12 months, and a successful launch in March 2018 of his first location in Birmingham, MI, Mychalowych felt it was the right time to expand his business into a second location.

“In the last five years, we have seen an influx of Millennial buyers coming into the downtown Detroit area,” said Mychalowych. “There has been a significant boost in housing developments and investments coming from all over the world.”

“With our unique collaborative work environment, we want to be a part of this community as the real estate resource as it continues its growth as one of the fastest growing cities in the nation,” he added. “With offices spanning from Detroit all the way up to Birmingham we can service all the growing communities in between. We have extensive knowledge of these markets and can hopefully help contribute to Detroit’s resurgence, which in turn will filter out into the surrounding areas.”

Before Mychalowych began his real estate career, he spent years as an electrical engineer. As the owner of Advanced Systems & Designs Inc., Mychalowych led a large staff of software and hardware engineers, and a nationwide sales organization including a global network of distributors. He sold the business in 2012.

In 2009, after years as a top-producing REALTOR®, Mychalowych decided to open his own brokerage, Birmingham Realty LLC, in downtown Birmingham.  As the broker of a successful office, Mychalowych did not rest on his laurels.

In 2017, in addition to running a brokerage of associates, Mychalowych closed 64 transactions in excess of $18 million and the brokerage had $26 million in sales volume.

Mychalowych had many reasons behind his decision to partner with NextHome.

“I wanted to provide more value to our agents with better branding, additional technology, technology leveraged training, and tools that would help them save time and make more money,” said Mychalowych.

In addition, “it just made good business sense to not reinvent the wheel and create all this stuff on my own.”

As he was researching franchise options, he was specifically looking for a company that provided a plug and play option that was affordable, yet provided a lot of value.

“NextHome City Realty will bring the features of an office of tomorrow to today’s buyers and sellers,” said Mychalowych. “We have a consumer-centric brand and I value a commitment to education for both our clients and our agents.”

Mychalowych said NextHome City Realty is just the beginning of the expansion of his office footprint. “I see us growing throughout the Detroit area very soon,” added Mychalowych.

When not selling real estate, Mychalowych focuses on family. The Mychalowych’s have been married for 27 years and have two children – daughters Madison (age 18) and Brooklyn (15). The family enjoys spending time relaxing at their lakefront home and in Northern Michigan.

Please join us in congratulating Paul and the rest of the team at NextHome City Realty on the opening of their second new NextHome office in Downtown Detroit, MI!

Pleasanton, CA — July 11, 2018 — NextHome is proud to announce our newest addition to the franchise, NextHome Bloom Real Estate. The brokerage represents the 10th location opened in the state of Michigan for the NextHome franchise.

The office will be owned and operated by top-producing broker Dave Bengston.

NextHome Bloom Real Estate will provide real estate services to buyers and sellers such as single-family residential sales, first-time home buyers, investment, and land deals for areas of Grandville, Wyoming, Rockford, Ottawa, Sparta, Sand Lake, Kentwood, and the remainder of the Grand Rapids metropolitan area.

As a suburb of Grand Rapids, Grandville is home to approximately 30,000 residents. Grand Rapids is the second largest city in Michigan, trailing only Detroit. With more than a million residents in the Grand Rapids metro area, NextHome Bloom Real Estate is primed to serve this booming community.

Before real estate, Dave was in management for UPS. In 1995, he began part time in mortgages while still working at UPS full time. Five years later, Dave attained his real estate license, left UPS and never looked back.

He started his own real estate brokerage in 2000 called Realty Consultants with two business partners. His business partners at the time ran the appraisal side of the brokerage, while Dave handled the real estate sales side.

The partners grew the company to where the appraisal side became less of the focus and more concentration was on working on the investment side of the business. Realty Consultants began purchasing properties for rentals, as well as buying some properties to fix and flip for profit.

In 2003-2004, the brokerage bought and sold more than 200 properties just with their portfolio, with another 50 transactions closed on behalf of other investors.

When the economy changed in 2008, the partners dissolved the corporation.

After his term with the partners expired, Dave continued the brokerage on his own under the name Real Estate 360. The 20-agent brokerage did very well, but Dave realized he was the one providing the bulk of business that was being done. Seeing the need to downsize, Dave worked to streamline the company to a team concept to have members supporting his high-producing business.

In 2017, Dave saw the need to add technology to compete with some of the more tech savvy real estate companies that were coming into his community. He found NextHome via a simple Google search, but that research was backed by him speaking with existing NextHome franchisee, George Keely (owner of NextHome Keely Realty).

“I knew George from many years of working together in the Grand Rapids community,” said Dave. “After speaking with him and finding out more about the company, I really liked what I saw.”

“I really liked the technology the franchise offered, but I especially liked the ability to create my own culture in my company and support the business model I wanted for our brokerage,” he added.

When not selling real estate, Dave loves spending time with his family. He and his wife of 31 years, Joanne, have five children.

Please join us in congratulating Dave and the rest of the team at NextHome Bloom Real Estate on the opening of their new NextHome office in Grandville, MI!

Pleasanton, CA — April 3, 2018 — NextHome is proud to announce our newest addition to the franchise, NextHome Victors. The brokerage represents the eighth location opened in the state of Michigan for the NextHome franchise.

Based in Ann Arbor, the company will be owned and operated by business partners Kelly Boyd and DJ Kaufman.

The brokerage will provide real estate services such as single-family residential sales, first-time home buyers, investment, luxury, multi-family properties, and REO/foreclosure services to the communities of Ann Arbor, Saline, Dexter, Chelsea, Ypsilanti, South Lyon, and the remainder of Washtenaw, Livingston, Wayne, and Jackson counties.

Ann Arbor is home to nearly 115,000 residents, making it the sixth-most populated city in the state of Michigan. The city is home to the University of Michigan, which employs approximately 30,000 people.

Originally from Michigan, DJ moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2006 to explore project management opportunities. His family had always invested in real estate and he wanted to take his experience and see what positions were available in the Florida housing market. It was there that he met his future fiancé, Christina, in 2010.

The couple moved to Christina’s hometown of Gainesville, Florida where they relocated for her career at the University of Florida hospital.

Now living in Gainesville, DJ moved away from project development and started his career on the sales side as a REALTOR® in 2012 with Watson Realty.

As a brand-new agent, he sold 11 homes in his first year and grew his business to close over 70 transactions in 2013.

When Christina had an opportunity to work in the pediatric cardiology at the University of Michigan, the couple moved back in 2017 and DJ continued his high level of real estate home sales.

Born in Detroit and a long-time resident of Ann Arbor, Kelly started his real estate career in 2015 after 20+ years in the animal health industry. As one of the top salespeople for the Fort Dodge Animal Health company, he decided to get into real estate and use his exceptional sales skills to help buyers find their dream home.

Loving the idea of being a resource to the community, Kelly always appreciated the small business approach of staying local and providing high-knowledge, high-touch real estate service.

Working for Keller Williams in Ann Arbor, Kelly build a solid real estate sales business in a very short amount of time.

DJ crossed paths with Kelly in 2017 when he moved back to Michigan and began looking for a brokerage to align with.

“From the moment that I met DJ, I found him to be smart, articulate and a well-presented professional,” recalled Kelly.

“I was at ease talking to Kelly,” added DJ. “He was personable, honest and we really clicked.”

When the two began discussing the opportunity of working together and starting their own brokerage, DJ remembered a real estate company that he thought would be a perfect franchise model to affiliate with.

“I happen to be friends with (NextHome’s VP of Business Development) Imran Poladi,” said DJ. “I met him right before the leadership team created the NextHome franchise in 2014. I got to watch first-hand how the company formed and grew to be the exceptional company it is today.”

“I love the way NextHome brings technology to the local market,” said Kelly. “I would describe it as invigorating technology with old school values.”

“It really is the way real ought to be,” he added.

Kelly describes NextHome Victors as a “brokerage that surprises our team members and their families with uncommon levels of service before, during, and after the transaction.”

When not selling real estate, both men love spending time with their families.

DJ and Christina have a seven-year-old son, Treyton, who is involved in all sports – including their favorite, soccer.

Kelly and his wife of 26 years, Lea, have two daughters – Stephanie (age 22) who is a pre-school teacher, and Bridget (20) who is a student at Hillsdale College. The Boyds love to travel and will be visiting the beautiful state of Wyoming in summer of 2018.

Please join us in congratulating Kelly, DJ and the rest of the team at NextHome Victors on the opening of their brand new NextHome office in Ann Arbor, MI!

NextHome Sampson Realty opens in Michigan

Miles Sampson
Miles Sampson

Pleasanton, CA — February 13, 2018— NextHome is proud to announce our newest addition to the franchise, NextHome Sampson Realty. The brokerage represents the sixth location opened in the state of Michigan for the NextHome franchise.

Based in Livonia, the company will be owned and operated by real estate broker Miles Sampson. NextHome Sampson Realty will provide real estate services such as single family residential sales, first-time home buyers, multi-family properties, investment sales and commercial to the areas of Livonia, Plymouth, Northville, Novi, Ypsilanti, Monroe, and the remainder of Wayne County.

With a population of nearly 100,000, the city of Livonia is located 15 miles Northwest of Downtown Detroit.

Sampson has been in the real estate industry since 2007. Starting as an assistant to a high-producing REALTOR®, he handled all details of the transaction from contract to close. With a specialization in streamlining the escrow process, Sampson was a valuable member of the real estate team.

In 2009, Sampson took a role as an Assistant Market Center Coordinator for a local Keller Williams Realty. With responsibilities such as accounting and management of the entire brokerage’s transactions, Sampson quickly learned how to handle dozens of transactions at any given time. While fulfilling, Sampson wanted to take his talents to the sales side.

In 2011, Sampson made the move to full-time REALTOR® and over the next six years, he steadily built a very successful real estate business.

In late 2017, Sampson felt that after nearly a decade in the real estate industry, it was time for him to open his own brokerage. Understanding the value of leverage, he looked to partner with a franchise that aligned with his values and brokerage needs.

“I found NextHome through a simple Google search,” said Sampson. “I loved the consistent branding. Considering I see so many companies not have branding standards, it was really appealing to find a franchise that held the line with this.”

When not selling real estate, Sampson volunteers for Bethany Christian Services, where he works with foster/adopting parents. As an instructor for the foster care skills class, Sampson helps families adapt to provide a home for these children.

Sampson loves spending time with his wife of seven years (and college sweetheart), Sarah. They have a two-year-old son, Elliott. The couple enjoy playing a unique card game with their friends called “Euchre” (pronounced Uke-Er).

Please join us in congratulating Miles and the rest of the team at NextHome Sampson Realty on the opening of their brand new NextHome office in Livonia, MI!

“At that time, several of my engineer friends had recently sold their homes,” recalls Smolinski. “They were really unhappy with how they were represented and suggested there was an opportunity for me to come into real estate and provide real estate service that was lacking in our local market.”

NextHome Keely Realty opens in Grand Blanc, Michigan

NextHome Keely Realty opens in Grand Blanc, Michigan

George Keely
George Keely

Pleasanton, CA— March 3, 2017 NextHome is proud to announce our newest addition to the NextHome franchise – NextHome Keely Realty. It is the fourth NextHome franchise location opened in the state of Michigan.

Based out of Grand Blanc, the new brokerage will provide real estate services such as residential sales, investment property sales, foreclosure sales, short sales, and purchases for first time homebuyers.

Owned and operated by veteran real estate broker George Keely, the company will serve the residents of Gland Blanc, Davison, Fenton, Swartz Creek, Flushing, Montrose, Lake Fenton, Mt. Morris, Clio, and the remainder of Genesee, Shiawasse and Oakland Counties.

Keely started his real estate journey in 1999 after leaving his previous career in the corporate world of Information Technology. Selling real estate for Century 21 Halstead in Flint, Michigan, Keely built a successful business through growing his database.

“I came from a world where organization was key,” recalls Keely. “I really worked hard to grow my database of contacts and make sure I stayed in touch with current and potential clients and those who might send me a referral. I always wanted them to know I was available to help them with any real estate related questions.”

After four years as his own agent, Keely accepted an opportunity to be the Team Leader/Manager for Flint-based Keller Williams Gateway. He found the opportunity to teach, mentor, and assist agents in growing their business too good to pass up at the time.

In 2013, after a nearly a decade of real estate leadership and ownership of a brokerage, Keely returned to sales and picked right up where he left off. Using many of the techniques he taught his agents, Keely returned to being one of the top selling agents in his local market.

In 2016, Keely sold over 30 properties without the help of an assistant, a buyer’s agent, or transaction coordinator.

“I’m fortunate to be able to monitor and run my own transactions,” said Keely. “It really comes down to organization. Staying organized helps me be a better resource to my clients.”

In late 2016, Keely explored to opportunity of not only continue selling, but once again helping other agents as their mentor. It was clear he wanted to open his own brokerage. What wasn’t clear was whether he was interested in joining a real estate franchise or opening his new brokerage as an independent.

“I was going to open my own brokerage, but didn’t feel that any franchises made sense for me,” said Keely. “But after seeing what NextHome had to offer, I was very interested in finding out more.”

“After researching the technology offered to agents and then finding out about the leadership team and the extensive professional background from each member of the senior management team, I knew NextHome was for me,” he added.

When not selling real estate, Keely spends time with his wife of 32 years, June, and their two sons – Lance (age 30) and Brock (27). Keely recently became a grandparent to Lance’s one-year old, Carter.

Keely is a former competitive hockey player, but now turns his sights to a different sport – golf.

“I love a challenge,” said Keely with a laugh.

Please join us in welcoming George and the rest of his team at NextHome Keely Realty for the opening of this brand new NextHome office!

NextHome announces new Michigan office with NextHome Transitions

Darren Yearsley
Darren Yearsley

Pleasanton, CA— August 19, 2016 — NextHome is proud to announce our newest addition to the franchise, NextHome Transitions. The brokerage is the 3rd NextHome franchise location in the state of Michigan.

Located in Commerce Township, the brokerage is owned and operated by real estate veteran, Darren Yearsley. The company is dedicated to serving the needs of residents in Oakland and Livingston Counties including the cities of Oakland, Milford, Commerce Township, South Lyon, Brighton, and West Bloomfield.

Licensed since 1987, Yearsley started his career a nationally franchised brokerage in Pennsylvania, where he served the needs of hundreds of clients in two states – Pennsylvania and Delaware. For nearly two decades, he provided world-class service to residents of the Northeast region.

By being client-centric with his business model, Yearsley’s efforts consistently saw him close nearly 50 transactions annually.

After years in the real estate field, he found himself looking for a new challenge. Wanting change, Yearsley turned to a different sales field to start anew.

In 2006, Yearsley relocated to the suburbs of Detroit, where he took on a new role as a corporate sales accountant for Centurion Medical Products – one of the largest medical product companies in the United States.

Under his leadership, the company saw his designated territory go from $15,000/yr in sales to in excess of $2 million in just under five years.

Leading his division until late 2015, changes in the medical insurance industry had Yearsley thinking of returning to real estate. After 10 years of being gone, he was re-kindled in his passion for selling homes and this time, he wanted to help others in their real estate career. Yearsley was determined to open his own brokerage.

Knowing that the real estate landscape had changed significantly since his last year of active real estate sales, Yearsley looked to partner with a progressive real estate franchise to help him launch his new office.

NextHome was a natural fit for his brokerage vision.

“Through all my real estate franchise research, the NextHome platform, tools, and virtual presence was second to none,” said Yearsley. “The company provides a new spin on brokerage technology in a world full of antiquated real estate models.”

The name NextHome Transitions was a direct result of Yearsley’s focus on client services.

“We want to help our clients transition to their next home,” said Yearsely. “No matter what age or situation, we want to be the resource to help them through their transition.”

Please join us in welcoming Darren and his team at NextHome Transitions to the NextHome family!
