I grew up in Correctionville, Iowa just east of Sioux City. When I was younger, my family vacationed at Okoboji with friends and in 1987 my parents bought a cabin on the lake with 50′ of East Okoboji Lakeshore for under $50,000. WOW, how land prices have changed in 30 years! Ever since then, I have loved Okoboji and moved here full time in 1996 after graduating from Iowa State University. I owned 2 daycare centers and taught preschool in the lakes area from 1997 until 2009.
I have been a licensed REALTOR in the Iowa Great Lakes area since March 2008 and started my own brokerage NextHome At The Lakes in March 2016. I opened my second office in January 2018 in Sioux City, Iowa and am excited to be able to serve people in my old stomping ground! I am now licensed in 4 states, Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, and Nebraska!
I am very involved with the REALTOR organization serving as president of my local Board of Realtors in 2013 and 2014 and am currently Past President of the Northwest Iowa Regional Board of REALTORS. I was a director for the Iowa Association of REALTORS in 2013 and 2014 and currently am serving as IAR Regional Vice President for Region 1. In 2016, I was on the Resort and Second Homes Real Estate Committee for the National Association of REALTORS and in 2017 and 2018, I served on NAR’s Idea Exchange Council for Brokers. Because of my involvement at the local, state and national levels, I was voted as REALTOR of the year for my local association in 2014.
In my spare time, I love watching sporting events but especially the Iowa State Cyclones and Minnesota Vikings and Twins. I also enjoy spending time with my nieces and nephews and my 160 pound Boerboel (South African Mastiff), Buddy.

Katie Slater has known for a while that I was looking for a condo in Okoboji. She sent weekly updates, and suddenly we narrowed the list to a handful. In early July 2018, Katie escorted my daughters and I through properties, never once pressuring us into

I have no problem with giving Katie Slater 5 stars. She listened to me describe my housing needs, financial issues and, as I informed her, of my physical handicaps and personal hobbies, asked thoughtful questions and quickly eliminated properties on the
market that did not fit those criteria rather than wasting my time showing me homes that would not fit my needs . She is very knowledgeable about the area, pointing out the different properties relative location to the local government offices, public library
and parks.

Katie did a great job of moving our property. We signed the listing agreement with her, she published an ad in the local Shopper, and it was sold within two weeks. We closed in less than 30 days of listing. Katie handled all of the paperwork, clean & simple.

Katie went beyond the call of duty showing me various homes and explaining the ins and outs of buying a home.
What was real so kind of Katie was when she showed us the house on the final "walk-through", I noticed a picture with "DUFFY" on. What a wonderful house warming gift!
