Ten years ago, I began an adventure that taught me invaluable lessons about community, friendship, family, and culture. At just 20 years old, I took a leap of faith and moved to Alaska. A few years later—and after five moves between rentals and first-time homeownership—it was time for another transition. This time, my family and I relocated to Montana, where we once again built new friendships, created a sense of family, and learned an entirely new community.

Living a military lifestyle required constant adaptability—forming new connections, creating a supportive “family,” and immersing ourselves in each new place we called home. After four more moves, I found myself returning to my hometown of Wisconsin Rapids, motivated by the desire to be closer to family for both my children and myself. My kids now enjoy time with relatives tubing, hunting, fishing, and cheering at sporting events, while I appreciate the support that allows me to spend time hunting, golfing, attending Packers games, or enjoying live music around town.

Years of moving from state to state gave me a deep understanding of how overwhelming a move can feel—and how much easier it becomes when you have the right people guiding you through the process.
