Joel Alexander
Raised in upstate New York, Joel Alexander made Maine his home in 1992 while stationed in Rockland with the United States Coast Guard. The discipline, leadership, and problem-solving skills he developed during his service became the foundation of a real estate career that now spans more than two decades.
Joel entered real estate as an investor and property owner in 1996, owning and managing multiple apartment units early in his career. He later spent over five years as a manager with ServPro, where he gained extensive hands-on experience evaluating residential and commercial properties, overseeing repairs, coordinating mitigation efforts, and negotiating with insurance companies. This background provided him with a deep understanding of building systems, property condition, and risk—insight that continues to benefit his clients today.
In 2012, Joel became a licensed REALTOR® and soon after founded Sentry Leasing & Management. He is now a licensed Broker and the owner of NextHome Northern Lights Realty, where he is known for his practical expertise, attention to detail, and unwavering commitment to client success.
Joel brings a rare blend of market knowledge, valuation expertise, and municipal insight to every transaction. He has completed the Maine Real Estate Appraiser Course, Maine Tax Assessor Course, and the Building Inspector Course, and he offers more than a decade of experience in town planning and building ordinance review. A former member of the Gardiner Town Planning Board and Ordinance Review Committee and a current member of the Chelsea Planning Board, Joel understands land use, zoning, and development from both the public and private perspectives.
A respected leader within the real estate profession, Joel was named 2022 Kennebec Valley REALTOR® of the Year. He currently serves as President of the Kennebec Valley Board of REALTORS® and previously served for several years as a Director for the Maine Association of REALTORS®, helping shape policy and advocate for the industry statewide.
Committed to giving back, Joel also serves on the board of KVCAP, supporting community development and housing initiatives throughout Central Maine. Whether representing buyers, sellers, or investors, Joel’s depth of experience, leadership, and community involvement help his clients make informed, confident real estate decisions
