Derek Wells, a native of Rosenberg, Texas, just outside Houston, has established himself as a reputable real estate broker. While his journey began with a Master of Professional Accounting degree from Stephen F. Austin University, Derek honed his financial expertise through esteemed organizations such as Ernst & Young, where he worked as an auditor, and Plains All American Pipeline, where he held a prominent role as a lead accountant.
Parallel to his financial pursuits, Derek found fulfillment in his passion for ministry, serving as a financial director at Movement Church—a flourishing church plant—where he contributed to the development and maintenance of robust financial systems. However, it was Derek’s entrepreneurial drive and his desire to help families achieve their dreams of homeownership that eventually led him to venture into the real estate industry.
Presently, Derek serves as the CFO and Managing Partner of NextHome Platinum Realty, a Real Estate Brokerage, where his mission is to foster the growth of a new generation of agents who share his unwavering commitment to ethical business practices. His aim is to continue making a positive impact on the Houston real estate market by assisting more individuals of color in attaining homeownership and building financial prosperity through real estate investments.

Derek was awesome! He is very knowledgeable and gets the job done! Although the market was super crazy, Derek made it happen and we got the perfect home and paid exactly what we wanted to pay! After several unaccepted offers and even one accepted offer
with a shady agent that backed out, Derek assured us that what God has for us, is for us and he couldn’t have been more right! He handled everything (loan company, title company, inspection, etc.) and kept my crazy at bay. Communication was on point and his
response was always “don’t worry, I got you” and he did! He even brought on an agent to be sure we were good while he was traveling! Hands down superb service!

I was recommended to Mr. Derek base on his skill and well knowledgeable about his business, he was highly spoken of and highly recommended for the job, my first day with Mr. Derek was great, because he was prepared for the job, I was able to see 5 houses
in one day and made an offer in the same day. Mr. Derek asked question has we are leaving the house, from a scale of 0 to 10 how do you rate this house, from there, he had an idea of what you are interested in.

If there is any concern I have during the transaction, I will call him up, explain to him, in 24 to 48 hours, he has resolved my concern, going between buyer, seller and loan officer issue, not a big deal for him to handle. As a first time home buyer I clearly had no clue as to what I was doing or even what to expect. Buying a home was stressful at times but Derek was always available, patient and very helpful throughout the whole process. Even after I closed, he followed
