NextHome SC Realty offers insights for transactions across Dothan, Headland, Wicksburg, Enterprise, Rehobeth, Midland City, Ashford, Cottonwood, Eufaula, Abbeville, Ozark, Taylor, and the remainder of southeastern Alabama.
The brokerage is housed in a charming 1950s converted home at 1669 West Main Street, a location that offers a welcoming environment for both clients and agents.

Shaun has been an Alabama real estate professional since 2008. Over the years, he has developed a reputation for down-to-earth service that centers the client and their unique needs.
Working with both small independent offices and nationally franchised brands, Shaun has built an ecosystem of trust and integrity among local real estate professionals. An important part of that success was developed through his longstanding real estate photography business: Shaun Cunningham Photography.
“One of the things I enjoy most is simply helping people,” Shaun said. “When I’m taking photos for an agent, we can talk through the property, I can offer feedback, and they can ask questions. Those little moments of connection build trust and can make a big difference.”
Most recently, Shaun served as qualifying broker at a Dothan-area independent firm, where he supported an office of more than two dozen agents. His seven years in leadership led to an increased passion for well-supported agents who embrace community-minded, relationships-based real estate.
“What makes our business strong is the culture we create: support, accountability, professionalism, and a shared commitment to success,” Shaun said. “I roll up my sleeves and I get in the trenches with the agents. I do what they do, I want to see what they see, and be involved. It's hard to be a leader if you don't know what the people are going through.”
Shaun’s talented leadership led to opportunities in ownership. However, before moving forward Shaun started researching the benefits and downfalls of franchising.
“I was actively looking for reasons not to partner with this franchise,” Shaun said of his research around NextHome. “After looking really carefully at this brand, talking with Charis (Moreno, NextHome’s Executive Vice President, Growth), and having really candid conversations with other owners, NextHome still stood out as a great choice.”
Today, Shaun is building NextHome SC Realty on a foundation of community connection, high-quality service, and a no-nonsense approach to real estate.
“I want to be known for authenticity and service,” Shaun said. “What you see is what you get with me, and that consistency matters in real estate. I always want clients to feel respected, informed, and confident throughout the process. The best marketing is still word of mouth. If you treat people well and do great work, your reputation will speak for itself.”
Shaun currently serves on the local MLS Board of Directors, a role he has held across multiple terms dating back to 2019. Shaun previously served on the Southeast Alabama Association of Realtors Board of Directors from 2022 to 2025. He also served on the Dothan City Planning Commission from 2020 to 2025, after being nominated by the mayor to represent his district.
At the heart of everything Shaun does is his family. He and his wife, Kim, are approaching their 20th wedding anniversary in July and are the proud parents of three daughters ages 10, 15, and 19. When they are together, the family enjoys cheering on their girls as they compete in travel volleyball.
When they are home, the family enjoys fishing, cooking together, and riding side-by-sides at the lake.
